KONY 2012

You've all probably heard about this by now (if you haven't...do you live in a cave?) Kony is one of the most wanted international war criminals by the International Criminal Court in The Hague, Netherlands, who's wanted for crimes against humanity and terrorism. In brief, what he does is send his rebels out to kidnap young children for his army, the RLA (Lord's Resistance Army). The boys get used a child soldiers and the girls become sex slaves. Some of the child soldiers' roles is to kill, in many cases even their own parents, and mutate the faces of innocent and enemies. He is based in Sudan but since the increased awareness in America the RLA have started to spread to neighbouring African countries. Here's the video by the man behind the whole campaign and how to get involved. I know people may argue that there are worse things going on in Africa right now and the Americans have money to support this operations etccc, but how amazing would it be if YOU could join and say that YOU, not some superpower, contributed to the capture of Joseph Kony?

However, if you are slightly critical on the whole matter, here's the tumblr of a 2nd-year Politics student who rhetorically questions whether the money collected should be spent on victims, etc. Please do check it out, the author provides some thought provoking arguments.

Please just take half an hour of your day to watch this video which will hopefully inspire you to take action. I know in London there will be a 'Cover the Night' campaign on 20th APRIL 2012, where at sundown, people will meet at St Pancras Station to collect the posters and spend all night pasting them on every street corner in London. The same events will take place in the majority of major cities in the world, so search on Facebook events to see if this will take place in your city.

Also, here's the official website where you can join the mailing list and make a monthly or once off donation (paid in dollars).

Thank you

Hello Monday!

Okay so today was shiiitt... here are some things which have cheered me up! :)

  1. I've been quite obsessed with blogger Garance Doré's "Excuse My French" video series, her accent is seriously cute plus it's quite nice to see her everyday life from her perspective. Check them out here if you haven't already!
  2. I'm so ready for summer... and here's a tutorial on how to make the perfect flower headband from Honestly, WTF. I actually wanted to try my hand at this last summer but I couldn't find the right materials! This summer I'm determined to do it!
  3. Simple classic clothing. I'm lusting for a shopping trip (even though I'm broke as hell) and after searching on online shops, I think I'll be hitting places such as Gap, Uniqlo and Zara the most! Here's what I wore today!

Shirt- Gap Navy jumper- Old school uniform one from M&S :P

Ugh three things... still all good things come in threes. Hope everyone's had a good start to the week!

Sorry for not posting this week, I was so so busy! Vowing to post more regularly. Speaking of vowing, saw The Vow at the cinema on Saturday, it was so sad! However, I didn't cry so I felt a bit unsatisfied, but anyways, a great movie, definitely go see it if possible.

Have a great week! Xxx

Sorry for the late post... I don't really have an excuse, I had a pretty relaxed weekend! So I guess my excuse was that I was too relaxed? :P

Have a great week!

Kisses, Aisha

Some new & old New Ins

Old:

Mom's cardigan with faux fur lining. SO warm!

Again my mom's old silk blouse which she's let me have

Ruffle detail of a blouse my mother found in Tk Maxx

I bought the coat for a slight discount due to the buttons falling off (which i fixed myself) from Oasis a couple of months back. It's composed with mostly wool and some polyester, and with the fur collar which is removable I AM INLOVE. The only detail I'm not keen on, however, is the stitching along the shoulder sides, I'd have preferred it to be sewn on properly to give it more of an androgynous look, but beggars can't be choosers :P

New:

Aaand once again my mother's vintage velvet earrings...I swear I don't steal all her stuff aha

I bought this necklace from Portobello market when I went there during the half term holidays. It's my new favourite necklace, I haven't stopped wearing it since purchase! Sorry the quality's crap, my camera's dying on me. On the plus side I've found a tripod for my camera, so better outfit pictures to come!

Lindsey Wixson by Tim Walker for Vogue Italia

I'm probably going to be up all night, so I thought I'd dedicate some time to making a post :)

Call me slow, but I only just found out about this! In the January 2012 edition the wonderful Tim Walker collaborate with Vogue Italia and Lindsey Wixson (whom is one of my favourite models) for an editorial with a psychologically creepy, yet innocent doll theme. There were too many to post, so here are my favourites (I hate choosing!)

Enjoy! x

Those dimples kinda scare me..
